Ashley Judd tweets gratitude to Houston hospital after estranged hubby's horrific racing crash
Actress and almost-Senate candidate Ashley Judd tweeted her regards to Memorial Hermann–Texas Medical Center early Wednesday, three days after her estranged husband Dario Franchitti fractured two vertebrae in a race car collision at the Houston Grand Prix.
Judd rushed to the side of the Indy 500 champ following the horrific Sunday crash, during which 13 spectators were injured by flying debris launched into the stands.
Franchitti underwent immediate surgery to stabilize his back and a severely-broken ankle. He is expected to return to Indianapolis later this week, according to a spokesperson from his racing team.
Judd wrote on her always-active Twitter account just after midnight Wednesday:
Very grateful for fine doctoring and helpful nursing across so many departments, & meals brought in from outside the hospital. Thank you!!

As soon as she learned of the accident on Sunday, Judd wrote on Twitter:
Thank you for the prayers for @dariofranchitti I have only clothes on my back & the dogs but that's all that we need & we are on our way.
