Young professionals celebrate all things Houston at Urban Green's H-Town Throw Down
What: Urban Green's H-Town Throw Down.
Where: Hermann Park.
The scoop: A celebration of all things Houston, Urban Green's H-Town Throw Down drew more than 200 young professionals dressed in Houston-inspired attire — Astros jerseys were everywhere, along with a smattering of Texas and Rockets-themed clothing. Guest sipped an Astros-themed cocktail amid such Houston-centric objects as the Orange Show for Visionary Arts’ Brünnehilde art car, which led off the Astros’ World Series Parade.
Chairs Emily Anderson, Stacy Leonard, Nick Scurfield, and Mitch Zlotnik helmed the fundraiser, set at Hermann Park among city landmarks including Pioneer Memorial Obelisk, McGovern Lake, and the Sam Houston Monument.
Spins by DJ Mav kept things lively as attendees enjoyed bites from Américas, Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys, La Mexicana, Raising Cane’s, FM Kitchen and Bar, Steel City Pops, and more.
Along with the Orbit Juice cocktail, a nod to the 2017 World Series Champions Houston Astros served up by popular whiskey bar and restaurant Bosscat Kitchen + Libations, drinks were served by Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Bayou Rum, Deep Eddy Vodka, Roxor Gin, and TX Whiskey.
The evening raised nearly $19,000 to benefit Hermann Park Conservancy’s mission to improve and protect the 445-acre city-park, home to the Houston Zoo, Miller Outdoor Theatre, a Japanese zen garden, lake with pedal boats, 18-hole golf course, and the scenic McGovern Centennial Gardens.
