Thongs at the ready: Houston Texans' upcoming catwalk struts build champagneanticipation
It's not just the charity benefits themselves that make H-Town's philanthropic scene so interesting, it's often satellite parties that also ring in the fun. Case in point, Thursday's luncheon in the Fendi boutique in the Galleria celebrating next month's Una Notte in Italia benefiting Family Services of Greater Houston.
This intimate gathering of the benefit chairs and Una Notte supporters has become a tradition, hosted by Fendi, which pulls out the stops with beaucoup corks popping, waiters swirling and a delightful ladies lunch from Jackson and Co.
"Bring your thongs," Debbie teased. It is tradition, after all, that the ladies toss sexy undies, roses and even dollar bills at the hunks strutting the runway.
Headlining the midday fete were gala chair Jana Fant and honorary chair Debbie Festari, who with husband Rudy Festari outfits the gents in the annual Una Notte fashion show.
In addition to the fab coterie of successful execs grooving down the catwalk in Festari for Men fashions, the Festaris are over the moon with the turnout of Houston Texans. Signing on for the fashion show at the Omni Houston Hotel on Nov. 2. are Matt Schaub, Owen Daniels, Kevin Walter, T.J. Yates, Antonio Smith and J.J. Watt.
"Bring your thongs," Debbie teased. It is tradition, after all, that the ladies toss sexy undies, roses and even dollar bills at the hunks strutting the runway during the most delightfully raucous fashion show of the year.
Fendi manager Karen Tentori welcomed the lunching ladies who included Joanna Hartland, Joyce Echols, Suzanne Getty, Jill Schlenker, Becca Cason Thrash, Beth Muecke, DeeDee Marsh, Kelli Weinzierl, Diane Caplan and Dominique Sachse.
And, yes, the event paid for itself even with 20 percent of sales during those two hours going to Family Services. More than a few ladies departed with Fendi signature golden bags, many filled with the iconic Fendi baguette. Orders were placed for dresses, shoes and belts. Ka-ching!
