Houston Parks Board salutes "godmother of Bayou Greenways" and growing connections

The scoop: With Mayor Annise Parker dubbed "the godmother of Bayou Greenways," the luncheon celebrated the ever-expanding connections of neighborhoods through parks and greenspace. Parker told the gathering that her role in bringing Bayou Greenways 2020 to life was one of her proudest accomplishments of her tenure in office. Aliyya and Herman Stude chaired the event that raised $485,000 in support of the parks board's efforts in providing access for all Houstonians.
Guests speakers award-winning filmmaker Carroll Parrott Blue and Regina Garcia, co-owner of El Meson restaurant and BikeHouston board chair, shared their individual stories on the personal impact of the greenways project.
