The accomplishments of members of the Indo-American community were celebrated in style at the Hilton Americas-Houston where four individuals were honored for their various business successes.
The 14th annual Indo-American Chamber of Commerce gala drew a sellout crowd of 600, who dined on an Indian-inspired menu orchestrated by Dawat Catering in cooperation with Hilton chefs and who were entertained with a dance performance by Naach Houston and a fashion show by Sari Sapne. Leading the fashion parade was Congressman Pete Olson and wife Nancy, both stunning in national Indian attire.
Tanya and Rick Pal served as emcees of the program that featured guest of honor Indian Consul General Parvathaneni Harish and guest speaker BMC Software chairman and CEO Robert Beauchamp.
The lineup of speakers included Jay Guerrero, district director for U.S Sen. John Cornyn; Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee; Congressman Al Green; Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia; Mayor of Houston Annise Parker; Houston City Councilwoman Helena Brown; and Sugar Land City Council members Himesh Gandhi and Harish Jajoo. IACCGH president Pankaj Dhume in his State of the Chamber address spoke about the chamber's Women Mean Business series and Women in Leadership initiative.
Four individuals were recognized with special honors — Ash Shah, International Business Person of the Year; Dr. Latha Ramachandran, Educator of the Year; Dhiren Sethia; Business Person of the Year and Gaurav Khandelwal, Young Business Entrepreneur of the Year.
IACCGH founding member Jagdip Ahluwalia, who currently serves as chamber executive director, received a special award for his “Outstanding Contributions to the Chamber” since its founding in 1999.
