Young professionals celebrate H-Town's historic treasures while partying in modern skyscraper
What: The Heritage Society's Young Houstonians for Old Houston happy hour.
Where: One Allen Center.
The 411: YPs with a taste for H-Town's history swarmed over the second floor lobby of the oh-so-contemporary skyscraper where a special exhibition of the Heritage Society's Texas-made furnishings from the mid-19th was on display.
While the temptation might have been to run one's fingers along the polished woods of the antique armoires or the four-poster bed, the "Do Not Touch" signs offered a forbidding note. Yes, sitting in Sam Houston's chair (a true treasure) was verbotten.
The exhibition, Texas Treasures: Fine Furnishings from the Kellum-Noble House, continues through Dec. 31, while the Kellum-Noble house is closed for restoration.
Who: Mark Kidd, Katy Schawe, Sarah Brejot, Monica and Aaron Ross, Madeline Matthews, Shannon Reese, Paul Morris, Tim Neuhaus, Camille Walker, Colin Eddington, Kristen Marquez, Katherine Woodliff and Christine Locher.
