Pix of the Day
Kids party in several of America's favorite cities without leaving Houston
Fun and games reached a new level for underprivileged youngsters getting a leg up on learning at Youth Development Center's summer enrichment program. At session's end, the kids were treated to a rollicking lunch party at The Events Co.
Richard Flowers, YDC board member, and the company team hosted the midday fete that followed the theme of this summer's study focus at YDC — America's favorite cities. The vast warehouse of colorful props and party stuff featured various aspects of the cities studied — Boston, Chicago, Nashville, Savannah, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, San Francisco and Seattle.
Midday activities included a scavenger hunt through the warehouse, mask-making and donning party props such as fun hats, party glasses, Mardi Gras beads and feather boas. Popular musician and band leader David Caceres led the kids on a "second line" parade that ended at lunch.
They ate and danced and played until the final school bell rang, at which point they were showered by a fab confetti blast while posing for photos beneath a replica of the Golden Gate Bridge.
