The 411: New York developer Richard Leibovitch is breathing new life into the former River Oaks Luxury Apartments with a $100 million state-of-the-art renovation, and nearly 100 insiders got a sneak peek at the plans for his luxe condo project, The River Oaks.
Located on Westheimer between Weslayan and Buffalo Speedway, the swank high-rise digs, slated to be completed early 2017, will feature 78 residences including two double-decker penthouses priced at $10 million each.
Among the crowd were several former residents of the apartment building, who reminisced about the golden days when the tenant list boasted such prolific notables as late actor John Wayne, who filmed the movie Hellfighters in Houston in 1968, and Oveta Culp Hobby, the first secretary of the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, first director of the Women's Army Corps, and owner of the Houston Post.
Also on hand were top brass from managing partner, New York-based developer Arel Capital, who jetted in to greet neighbors and prospects, as well as to toast the Houston team working on the building including Rottet Studio, EDI International, McDugald-Steele, and Jacob Sudhoff of Sudhoff Companies, handling sales and marketing, who announced the official opening of the Sales Center.
