International crowd turns out to honor Charles and Lily Foster at Interfaith Ministries Tapestry Gala

The scoop: Close to 600 guests turned out to honor community activists Lily and Charles Foster at the eighth annual IM gala, which celebrated Houston's diversity in cultures, ethnicities and faith traditions. Longtime friend Susan Baker, who served as the evening's honorary chair, along with her husband James A. Baker III, presented the 2016 Tapestry Award to Charles Foster, a noted immigration attorney who serves as Honorary Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Houston and his wife, Lily Foster, an accomplished actress.
The evening also included a shared prayer from six different faiths, as well as musical selections representing different faith traditions.
Who: Gala co-chairs Lynne and Phillip Aronoff, Shaista and Shahzad Bashir, Malinda and Alan Crain, Patti and Richard Everett, Patricia and David B. Jones, and Bill King were thrilled that more than $560,000 was raised for IM programs, including Meals on Wheels/aniMeals, refugee resettlement and interfaith relations.
