Powerhouse Houston couple keeps giving and giving — and gets their name on a Texas Children's building

The 411: Generous philanthropists and dynamic ball chairs Lester and Sue Smith were in the spotlight at the clinic dedication that included a serenade by a young cancer survivor, proclamations from the mayor and governor and reading of letters of congratulations and praise fromBob Schieffer, Robert Duvalland President George H. W. Bush. The Smiths chaired back-to-back galas benefiting Texas Children's Cancer Center in 2011 and 2012 that combined raised $41 million, thanks to the couple's dollar for dollar match.
The dedication ceremony celebrated the Smiths' commitment to supporting genomic research at Texas Children’s to advance treatments and find a cure for childhood cancers.
