Houston socialite picks up a major award with origins that date back to 3,500 BC

The 411: During a cocktail reception attended by some 200 guests, Carolyn Farb was announced as the first recipient of the Otzi Award, named in honor of the first man known to have suffered from arthritis in 3,500 BC. His remains were discovered in 1991 in the Alps along the Austrian-Italian border. Farb will be further recognized with this honor at the Bone Bash set for Oct. 25 at Hotel Derek.
Participating in the program were Arthritis Foundation board chair Jim Dumler, Houston Museum of Natural Science curator of anthropology Dirk Van Tuerenhout, foundation board member Toni Moore, Bone Bash co-chairs Marcie Berry and Rita Beckett and Farb, who was joined by young Tucker Beau Hyatt.
