Symphony young professionals bid auf wiedersehen to Hans Graf in Mozart-infused finale
Shortly after Houston Symphony music director Hans Graf put down his baton and the applause subsided, some 100 music enthusiasts, members of the symphony's Young Professionals Backstage group, departed Jones Hall for their season finale at Deborah Colton Gallery in Rice Village.
With the notes of Mozart's Symphony No. 40 and Stravinsky's Violin Concerto still ringing in their heads, the YPs easily changed their musical orientation as DJ Squincy Jones began spinning popular tunes.
The late-night action included posing with various props in a photo booth and taking in mixology lessons provided by the Bombay Sapphire World Bazaar. Party fare and libations were provided by Sambuca, Bombay Sapphire and Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co.
The party crowd included Katie Chachere, Kristin Kruse, Adam Van Doren, Gira Desai, Ken Heil, Shannon and Ronald Lee, Samuel Moreno, Glenn Taylor, gallery owner Deborah Colton and Houston Symphony violinist Sergei Galperin.
