Houston notables take bows at Interfaith Ministries's third annual Tapestry Gala
It was all smiles at the Hilton Americas-Houston during Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston's third annual Tapestry Gala. And well it should have been with more than 700 guests raising more than $875,000 for the non-profit that works to unite groups of diverse faiths into collaborative service for the greater community.
The dinner evening, that included a program celebrating diversity through musical performances, was chaired by Philamena and Arthur Baird, Jan Duncan and Peggy and Bill Barnett.
Taking bows as honorees were Arthur Schechter and Fred Zeidman, recognized for their community leadership. Underscoring the importance of the evening, the honors were presented by Mayor Annise Parker and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett.
Rabbi Roy Walter received a special tribute, delivered by Lester Smith, for his work as a lifetime board member and years of service to Interfaith Ministries.
The non-profit handles four primary programs — Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston, refugee services, disaster preparedness and interfaith dialogue.
