Santa Maria Hostel celebrates 50 years of helping women and children overcome addiction
More than 300 checked into the Westin Galleria Hotel ballroom for the Santa Maria Hostel's ninth anniversary gala, the evening celebrating 50 years of service to area women and children helping them overcome dependence on alcohol and drugs.
Marylynn and Andy Icken chaired the gala that honored CenterPoint Energy, Baker Botts, PriceWaterhouse and the mother/daughter team of Jeanne Clark and Keira Clark. KHOU Channel 11 morning show host Deborah Duncan emceed the evening that featured a video focusing on the story of a Santa Maria Hostel volunteer, whose daughter and grandson fought the battle against addiction.
Supporters included Santa Maria Hostel executive director Kay Austin and Tommy Austin, Judge Bonnie Hellums, Carol Stith, Trish and Leonard Kincaid, Judy and Judge Glen Devlin, Michael Seals, Dr. Alicia Kowalchuk, Dr. Benjamin Saldana, Judge Frank Rynd and Diana and Steve Singer.
