Houston teen takes over an art gallery — and wows the social set with fashion designs
What:Amir Taghi Atelier fall/winter 2014 presentation.
Where:Deborah Colton Gallery.
The 411: Designing wunderkind Amir Taghi took over the art gallery on North Boulevard for an evening showcase of his latest designs. The cocktail event, catered by Del Frisco's Steak House, doubled as a benefit for Leukemia Lymphoma Society Woman of the Year candidate Hasti Taghi, the young designer's cousin.
With the collection Amir says that he employs luxurious fabrics "as well as draping, representing the rich sense of design that Iran (his parents homeland) is known for." He constructs other pieces "in a rigid manor showing the constraint the women have living in that country." A trio of talents helped bring the show together — Vico Puentes on styling, Karla Enrique on makeup and Tree Vaello on hair styling.
Who: Family and friends in the mix included designer David Peck, Donae and Rob Chramosta, Megan Pruitt Winder, Miya Shay, Ruchi Mukherjee, Elie Taghdisi, Roz Pactor, Mary Cullen, Maryam Afshari, Danielle Cullen and the designer's parents, Fariba and Iraj Taghi.
