Cluck, Cluck!
You won't believe who put on a full chicken suit and shocked the River Oaks crowd: Chicken dance party!
From his television ads, we all knew that Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale was a cutup, but I'm not sure that we ever imagined him strutting across the driveway at River Oaks Country Club in full chicken costume and later leading the charity luncheon crowd in the chicken dance.
It seems the guy will do anything for a worthy cause, which is why he was the surprise "chick" at the second annual "Spring Chicks Luncheon," benefiting the WorkFaith Connection.
Luncheon emcee Deborah Duncan introduced the "WorkFaith Spring Chick" to a completely surprised crowd. While the day held plenty of laughs, there was a serious side to the gathering that featured Debbie Stuart and Scott Wesley, whose testimonials evoked both laughter and tears from the guests.
No surprise though to luncheon chairs Monica Hartland Blaisdell, Claudine Hartland and Sarah Hartland.
WorkFaith Connection has already scheduled its fall fundraiser, a Sept. 30 Sounds of Success breakfast featuring Tim Keller, pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City.
Clucking over the day's proceedings were Warner Roberts, Sandy Schulz, Jessica and Scott Wesley, Jennifer Brown, Roseann Rogers, David Hartland, Samantha Kennedy, Stan Marek, Ralph Marek, Laura Anderson, Mary Lu Campbell, Donae Chromosta and Angie Roberts.
