Family Services draws a heavy-hitter crowd to River Oaks Country Club
Who doesn't appreciate Lucia and Michael Cordúa for their good works and their seemingly endless support of the Houston charity scene? It was no surprise then that Family Services of Greater Houston tapped the Cordúa family, including son chef David Cordúa, as honoree for the 16th annual Celebration of Families luncheon, held at River Oaks Country Club.
Yes, these are the same Cordúas who own Americas, Churrascos, Artista and Amazon Grill and have the major catering arm of the same name.
Making certain that the event went swimmingly were benefit chairs Alissa Steppe Maples and Christie Sullivan. Honorary chairs Cathy and Dr. Joseph Garcia-Prats, Family of the Year in 1998, loaned their support and helped welcome guests along with board chairman David Wuthrich.
More than 200 Family Services supporters and Cordúa family fans turned out for the event. Among them were Tom Amonett, Carol Beck, Joan and David Dunlap, Anne Hooper, Marilyn Graves Lummis, Millette Shermann, Marcia Smart, Virginia Steppe, Trini Mendenhall Sosa, Frank Sosa and Carol Turtur.
