Rodeo fever arrives early with 'Boots & Bling' bash and the mayor steps out in style

The scoop: More than 600 stepped out in their finest western wear for the evening that featured down-home barbecue from Lenox Barbecue & Catering and music by Orion the Band. Even Mayor Sylvester Turner stepped out in style, wearing a black suede vest imprinted with images of jazz musicians and a black velvet jacket.
Cassye Cook-Provost, Marsha Penn, and Paula Campbell Sanders chaired the event that raised funds for the Links scholarship fund. The nationwide community service organization contributes more than 500,000 hours of volunteer work each year.
