Made-in-Texas Oscar favorite takes center stage at film awards kick-off party
What: A kick-off bash for the Texas Film Awards gala set for March 12 in Austin.
The 411: Representatives of the Austin Film Society buzzed through town promoting the big event with a dog and pony show that included photographer Matt Lankes, who answered questions and signed his book BOYHOOD: Twelve Years on Film, which documents the making of the Oscar nominee for Best Picture.
Guests partied under the stars in the hotel's splash pool area while images of previous Texas Film Awards honorees were projected on the Derek's Texas-sized movie wall. Ensuring that all went smoothly was Derek sales and marketing director Stephanie Summerall and chef Shannen Tune, who whipped up a wealth of party foods.
