Dinning With the Fishies
First ever opportunity to dine gourmet style in under-the-sea setting at Houston Zoo
Houston Zoo has come up with an interesting approach to an early Valentine's celebration — a romantic dinner surrounded by sea life. "Enchantment Under the Sea" will treat 50 couples to a three-course gourmet dinner in the nature-rich surroundings of the Carruth Natural Encounters exposition.
That means canoodling with your special friend while being entertained by the panoramic display of swimming fish, live coral and sea jellies. So as not to offend the gilled onlookers, the dinner will feature ocean-friendly, sustainable seafood and will benefit MarAlliance's conservation efforts in Belize.
The evening includes private access to the recently renovated Kipp Aquarium, the 10,000-gallon tank home to 19 different species, as well as a private sea lion show, close encounters with some of the zoo's friendliest residents and conversation with the zoo's prominent animal experts. It all happens Friday, February 12.
The $89 per person tariff includes the three-course dinner by Sodexo (the zoo's food service partner), hors d'oeuvres, beverages and animal fun. Reservations can be made here.
