Lighting Up the Knights
Galveston Mardi Gras off to a grand start with Knights of Momus Coronation Ball
The Galveston Mardi Gras tradition of royal hijinks, beautiful gowns and a rocking good time continued Saturday night with the Knights of Momus Coronation Ball.
With their nose-to-the-ground Texas bows, the 23 duchesses in haute couture-inspired gowns charmed the black-tie entourage that filled the Grand 1894 Opera House to overflowing. Particularly stunning was Momus Queen Jordan Raschke, a junior at the University of Texas.
While the young ladies were grace and elegance, King Frivolous CI Tom Daly and his retinue were all frolic and villainous pranks as they riffed on the "Superheroes Unleashed" theme of the ball.
The evening kicked off with a cocktail party at The Tremont House and concluded with a festive gala, chaired by Jill and D.J. Termini, at the Galveston Island Convention Center at the San Luis Resort. Among those dancing the night away to the sounds of Dallas-based Party Machine were Momus president Scott Kusneerik and wife Margie.
The party throng included Joan and Doug McLeod, Libbie and Bill Ansell, Brenda and Tom Koch, Gwen Goffe and Ed Eubanks, Dancie and Jim Ware, Debra and Tom Perich, Kim and Fred Raschke, Will Henry, Carter Ware, Patrick Fertitta and Anne and James Henderson.
The 2016 duchesses included Laura Mason, Belle Brennan, Courtney O’Donnell, Carson Miller, Alexandra Henry, Carolina Henry, Hannah Bevers, Carter Fitts, Taylor Frazer-Green, Hayley Friedman, Alex Harrington, Mary Henderson, Emily Henrikson, Leslie Lugrin, Brook Morse, Annalee Noel, Alexandra Palmer, Madison Perrett, Abigail Roberts, Marissa Smith, Allison Stanley, and Stephanie Tower.
