The owner of one of Houston’s most popular Thai restaurants has launched a ghost kitchen. M Express Thai Kitchen, a delivery and to-go only concept, sells Thai-style takes on familiar favorites like burgers, hot dogs, and wings.
Kin Dee owner Lukkaew Srasrisuwan opened M Express Thai Kitchen at Fair Food Co., a ghost kitchen facility in the Galleria area (5832 Fairdale Ln.). If its successful, she plans to expand the concept to other parts of the city.
“I am so excited to give Houstonians a first taste of M Express Thai Kitchen’s unique flavors and twist on traditional fast-food items,” Srasrisuwan said in a statement. “I feel that M Express Thai Kitchen represents a wholly unique addition to the vibrant and diverse Houston culinary community, and we are ecstatic to bring a new level of convenience to Houstonians and visitors alike.”
The 13-item menu features familiar American comfort food that’s kicked up with Thai flavors. For example, a beef hot dog gets topped with a stir fry of ground beef, peppers, and onions along with drunken noodle sauce and fried basil. Similarly, the Basil Beef Burger gets topped with sauce along with the familiar lettuce, tomato, and onion — bacon, cheese, and a fried egg are available as additional toppings. The menu also includes Sriracha wings, shrimp nuggets, a club sandwich with panang curry sauce, and two wraps.
As with any ghost kitchen, items can be ordered for pickup or delivery via third party apps. It’s open daily for lunch and dinner.
To develop the M Express menu, Srasrisuwan collaborated with two Thai chefs who are identified in press materials as “Chef O” and “Chef Bell.” Together, they bring experience from resorts in their native Thailand as well as serving as consultants for Kin Dee. M Express Thai Kitchen is only one of Srasrisuwan’s new projects for 2023. Later this year she’ll open MaKiin, a fine dining restaurant in the Hanover River Oaks luxury high-rise.
