Milk & Cookies
Will Central Market's cookie happy hours start a trend?
When I think grocery store cookies, dry, premade cases with thick slabs of colored icing come to mind. But with gourmet stores that offer fresh meals by the dozen, it was only a matter of time until the sweet section got an upgrade.
Central Market debuted its selection of fresh store-baked cookies on Wednesday, and on Thursday it's offering a cookie happy hour from 3-6 p.m. to let customers sample the new baked goods — with milk included, of course.
During Cookie Happy Hour a create-your-own 6-pack of cookies is $3.50 with a free 14-ounce Promise Land milk.
The 19 cookie flavors range from traditional (chocolate chunk, oatmeal raisin) to more creative versions, including s'more, blueberries and cream and one dubbed kitchen sink (which consists of Kellogg's corn flakes, Lay's potato chips, Snyder's pretzels, semi-sweet chocolate and butterscotch chips). They'll be available at Central Market from now on — with the happy hour being something of a kickoff.
The cookies come in ingenious wooden containers that are made to be heated in the oven. Which will be your fave? Are you hoping that more places jump on the idea and turn cookie happy hours into a trend?
