Whataburger gives cabbies free food on Final Four weekend
How am I supposed to tip now?
Ever since I've been old enough to get too drunk to drive, I've been taking my cabbies to Whataburger as a token of my appreciation for their remarkable tolerance of my lack of tolerance. I even wrote about my late-night tradition in my Valentine's ode to the fast-food giant.
I can only assume the marketing Whatateam took notice, because they announced in a press release that the Yellow Cab home office, located at 1406 Hays Street, would be receiving complimentary taquitos and cinnamon rolls in anticipation of some late weekend nights.
Whataburger will also be distributing 300 coupons among the drivers, each good for one Whataburger or grilled chicken sandwich, good at any of their more than 100 Houston area locations.
Says regional director of operations Mark Brown: "The hardworking cab drivers in Houston are some of the unsung heroes of this exciting Final Four event. We are pleased to be able to show them our support with hot, made-to-order food and the southern hospitality Whataburger is known for.”
I say bravo, Mark, but give credit where credit is due. And next time, don't forget about the honeybutterchickenbiscuit.
