An Affair to Remember
Houston's most delectable foodie fest returns with even more on the menu
The weekend of April 6-9 has no doubt been marked on foodies' calendars for months. That's the date of the Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair, the highly anticipated event devoted to delicious food, spectacular drinks, and one-of-a-kind culinary experiences.
Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair first began in 2003, but for 2017 it's bigger and better than ever. A bevy of events is on tap for the weekend, but there are two in particular you should begin planning for now.
The first is the Grand Tasting on April 7, held at the Sugar Land Marriott Town Square from 7:30-10 pm. Culinary superstars will create savory and sweet dishes designed to entertain and delight. Perfectly paired libations include wines, bubbles, cocktails, and craft beers. While you dine, take time to indulge in the Grand Auction, where you can bid on a variety of exclusive items and packages benefiting the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel & Restaurant Management.
The popular Bartender’s Challenge will be part of the Grand Tasting for the first time this year. Three finalists, selected from over 50 submittals, will mix specially crafted cocktails and compete to be named the “official cocktail” of the 14th Annual Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair. Tickets for this memorable event are only $125 and can be purchased here.
If you're craving something a little more casual, don't miss the popular Sip & Stroll at Imperial, which has an extended two-day schedule from 3-6 pm on April 8 and 11 am-2 pm on April 9. Nosh on fantastic bites from more than 25 of the area's best restaurants while you sample craft cocktails and carefully selected wines. There's also a beer garden for the ale aficionados. Tickets for each all-you-can-eat day are $65 and can be purchased here.
Deepen your culinary cred by attending one (or all!) of the special cooking events. On April 6, take part in a Cajun crawfish boil or an Italian wine blind tasting. And don’t forget to attend a Learning Experience as part of your day pass. Led by award-winning chefs, mixologists, distillers, and sommeliers, each class aims to educate attendees on the perfect food and beverage pairings.
Still hungry for more? There are special stay-and-play packages and VIP passes available, giving avid foodies free reign over the tastiest event of the year.
