John Tesar has parted ways with his eponymous Woodlands restaurant, Tesar's Modern Steak & Sustainable Seafood, CultureMap has learned.
The restaurant's general manager initially told CultureMap that Tesar was currently consulting on another project in Dallas before later saying that Tesar would not be returning to the restaurant.
Tesar, known in foodie circles as the hard-partying but brilliant chef Jimmy Sears in Anthony Bourdain's roman à clef, Kitchen Confidential, helmed the kitchen at Dallas's five-star Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek for three years before a two-month stint back in New York. He finally made the move to The Woodlands as chef/owner of Tesar's in 2009.
There is no word on whether the restaurant Tesar's will change its name now that John Tesar is no longer there. The restaurant's public relations contact did not return calls for comment.
