BB's Cafe expands again
Popular Tex-Cajun restaurant picks Pearland for sixth location
BB's Cafe is expanding again. Known for its "Tex-Orleans Cooking," the restaurant owned by UH alum Brooks Bassler and his wife Maricela will arrive in Pearland in May or June.
Since 2007, BB's has been on an upward trajectory. From its small location in Montrose, the company added locations in the Heights, Greenway Plaza and Briargrove. In 2015, the Basslers made two bold moves by opening a location in Katy and converting the Montrose original to 24-hours per day service. According to Maricela, Pearland is the logical next step.
"We've always had an abundance of customers requesting for us to be in Pearland," she writes in an email. "Our immediate area is extremely underserved for quality 'Cajun' cuisine and, we feel that we can fill that void and even bring something new to the area with our Tex-Orleans Cooking!"
The 4,700 square foot building features plenty of parking and a substantial patio, both of which should come in handy if the restaurant opens in time for the end of crawfish season.
Bassler adds that the biggest difference between the Katy outpost and the Houston locations is the absence of late night hours. Although staying open late like the other locations had been part of the original plan, demand didn't justify the expense. "We found that the concept worked for our customers in Katy without the late night dining," she writes.
Whether Pearland requires a similar approach remains to be seen, but expect area residents to turn out for the opportunity to eat po-boys, seafood platters, and the signature Tex-Cajun Virgin poutine. After all, even the most devoted fans of Killen's Steakhouse need a little variety.
