Police search for a sandwich bandit in The Heights
A Houston criminal has his sights set on an unlikely and quite limited niche: Heights-area chain sandwich shops.
As KPRC Local 2 detailed, a Quiznos Sub shop at 20th Street and Yale Street was robbed on Monday around 8 p.m. The culprit held up employees at gunpoint and demanded cash.
This recent robbery brings to light a number of other sandwich shop attacks in the area. A Subway restaurant directly across the street from Quiznos has reported similar incidents (more than once), as has another Subway near the intersection of Heights Boulevard and I-10 (also more than once).
Thankfully, no one has been harmed in the holdups, but sandwich artists in the Heights are understandably on-edge.
A Quiznos employee told CultureMap that he believes the same male has targeted the Heights location three times now.
According to KPRC, the suspect carries his gun in a makeup case and moves into action when no customers are present.
Thankfully, no one has been harmed in the holdups, but sandwich artists in the Heights are understandably on-edge.
One has to wonder why the culprit keeps targeting the same sandwich shops. Is he a disgruntled former Subway employee who is still haunted by the unidentifiable creatures in Quiznos' terrible, terrible ad campaign?
The Houston Police Department is reviewing surveillance from the scene in hopes of identifying the robber.
