    BESPOKE BOOTS & HATS

Texas luxury boot maker kicks open the doors at newest Houston outpost

    Gabi De la Rosa
    Mar 22, 2023 | 9:30 am

Iconic western wear brand Lucchese has opened its 19th store at Baybrook Mall in southeast Houston. The Texas-based luxury brand is known for its extensive selection of cowboy boots, casual footwear, accessories, leather goods, and men's and women's apparel.

Lucchese opened its first store in 1883 at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. Since then, the brand has expanded to offer its customers a wide range of products symbolizing the authentic American West for over 140 years. The Baybrook Mall store comes on the heels of Lucchese Midland's grand opening last fall.

At 4,000 square feet, the Baybrook store is the brand's most expansive location. Shoppers will be greeted with a warm Western motif and find natural wood and leather elements throughout the boutique. As always, customers will discover high-quality boots and products at various price points and featured in multiple colors and leathers.

Those looking for a bespoke experience can create a pair of personalized boots in the store's exclusive customization area. The boots, hand-crafted in El Paso, will start with a customized fit and genuine sole-to-scallop design.

Lucchese's newest store will also feature the brand's first-ever custom hat bar. Guests can customize Lucchese hats with various hat bands and other accessories to choose from. Additionally, guests can also have their hats shaped by a professional hat shaper.

"Lucchese Baybrook marks our 19th Lucchese store, and it is slated to be our most bespoke experience yet," says Doug Kindy, Lucchese President. "From custom cowboy boots to custom hats, we aim to provide a product of the highest quality to our Houston-area customers that will last generations to come."

Lucchese Baybrook will host a Texas-sized grand opening party to celebrate the new store on April 1. There will be live music from Catie Offerman, a Parker McCollum guitar giveaway, complimentary drinks and bites, a hat shaping demonstration, a $1,000 Lucchese gift card raffle, and a Kendra Scott pop-up in the store. Additionally, the first 50 attendees will receive a gift.

Texas designer Kendra Scott steps up with first-ever boot collection

The collection only includes three silhouettes, but colors widen the choices.

One of Texas's most prominent fashion designers is stepping into a new realm: Western boots. Kendra Scott, known primarily for her relatively affordable, casual jewelry, is launching her first-ever footwear collection under the Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott brand.

Yellow Rose, a "lifestyle extension" of the more general Kendra Scott brand, focuses on Western aesthetics and personalization. The company opened a Houston location in the Heights in February. The boot collection will be available there as well as locations in Dallas and Austin. Customers from farther afield can also order online.

A press release says the Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott Boot Collection "deepens [the brand's] authentic connection to Kendra Scott’s Texas roots." It also cites a focus on "accessibility and color innovation" for the "modern cowgirl."

“When we set out to create Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott, I wanted it to honor the timeless spirit of Texas while also reflecting my admiration for iconic women like Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn,” said founder and chief creative officer Kendra Scott in the release.

“Their influence, alongside our customers’ desire for versatile and authentic footwear, led us to envision Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott as a Western-inspired lifestyle brand offering everything from head to toe," she continued. "Footwear felt like a natural progression toward that goal, bringing everyday style to the modern cowgirl and cowboy in a way that’s familiar to us—through unique shapes, colors, and timeless design.”

The collection encompasses three different styles: two in women's cuts, and one for men. Although this is the first time Kendra Scott is offering boots, it's not the first time shoppers have seen some of the design elements in the embroidery, which echoes some jewelry designs. All three styles are made of cow leather and come in different colors.

Shoppers can pick up pieces from this collection for $298-$398. Styles are available in men's sizes 7.5-13 and women's 5-12.
