Galleria Makeover Continues
Another new Galleria store beckons: This one is a trendy designer's sunny Texas dream
Trina Turk’s California cool has a new home deep in the heart of Texas. Turk recently opened a sunny spot in The Galleria, bringing her signature mix of colorful and architecturally-influenced apparel, shoes, accessories and more to Houston, a location that was high on the designer’s list.
“Texas has always been a really good state for us. It was really just a matter of finding a place that’s right,” she says.
The right spot opened up in Galleria 1, an area that has recently undergone a series of renovations and Turk was drawn to it because “it’s right in the middle of everything.”
“Texas has always been a really good state for us. It was really just a matter of finding a place that’s right."
The 1,400-square-foot store is between Rolex & Sephora and catches the eye thanks to a cleanly gilded entry and bright colors just inside the doors.
Fans of Mr. Turk will still have to drive to Turk’s Woodlands store on Market Street to shop for the men’s offerings, but the Galleria location stocks her home decor collection.
Turk’s design aesthetic blends her interest in color and geometric shapes with playful details and edgy touches, but there’s also a bit of vintage woven into her pieces, so when in Houston, she always makes time for a visit to Cheeky Vintage.
“I’m inspired by vintage and I love going over to Cheeky Vintage when I’m in Houston,” Turk says. In between interviews and appearances, Turk popped by the shop and Tina Davis of Cheeky Vintage posted an Instagram picture of her at the store.
Turk is also active on Instagram, posting on it regularly, giving followers a look into her life and design process.
“As a visual person, I feel like I found my social media medium ,” Turk says. For the record, you can follow her on Instagram @TrinaTurk.
