Making a classic splash
Always the designer, now the bride: Chloe Dao takes the plunge in her own beachwedding dress
- Congrats to the Mr. and Mrs. who tied the knot in a private beach wedding in theBahamas.

After years of designing wedding gowns for countless brides, Houston's own Chloe Dao took the plunge and made one for herself. Dao and Kenneth Pursley, her longtime fiancée, slipped away to the Bahamas and said “I do” in a beautiful beach wedding.
In true Dao style, the busy bride made her “Heidi” gown in one day, maximizing her favorite features. The dress is a classic basic body, 3/4 sleeve, with low cleavage and above the knee length. Dao naturally chose luxury fabrics of Italian embroidered lace and double-lined the gown with silk charmeuse. Dao introduced a collection of modern and romantic wedding gowns in 2010.
“I didn’t want to over think my dress. I thought about my best assets and made a dress that showcased them,” Dao tells CultureMap. “It was the perfect dress for me to make me feel beautiful and classic.”
She stayed true blue to her design philosophy as well.
“Show your best assets and you will always look and feel wonderful inside out,” Dao says.
