A Stitch in Time
It's a gay ol' time on Bravo's Fashion Show as Cesar Galindo advances
Bravo, the gayest channel on TV, sure knows its audience. On the latest edition of The Fashion Show: The Ultimate Collection, the remaining six contestants split into teams of two — they were paired by choosing rings out of a velvet bag — and designed wedding outfits for gay and lesbian couples.
We knew that Houston native Cesar Galindo would make it to the final five after he was paired with Miami designer Eduardo de la Casas. They're the oldest and most experienced designers in the competition. Both know how to effortlessly whip out a dress or jacket. When Galindo decided on a men's-influenced tailored jacket for his lesbian client, judge and mentor Isaac Mizrahi said, "I couldn't do that in 24 hours. Maybe you can."
Galindo effortlessly created a single button burgundy jacket with poufy shoulders that celebrity stylist and special judge Rachel Zoe loved. You get the idea Galindo could make one these in his sleep.
But Zoe and other judges weren't crazy about the paisley pants that his client had opted for over a more sedate stripe."The idea is not to fight a client, but to challenge them and charm them," Mizrahi said.
From the episode's outset, it was clear who was destined to go: Timid designer Cindy Ayvar was stuck with designing for a male couple and admitted she didn't know how to make men's clothing. Plus, she was paired with the evil Calvin Tran, easily the show's breakout star, which usually guarantees an exit because he is so nasty. When it boiled down to the two of them you knew Tran wasn't going home yet.
The show had a cringe-inducing TMI moment, when, out of nowhere, 26-year-old Jeffrey Williams announced he was a virgin. "Once you do it, you're not going to be able to stop," Galindo told him.
Only on Bravo.
