Houston radio station celebrates 25th anniversary with new morning DJs and Hilary Duff

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, radio station Mix 96.5 has lured a popular Las Vegas trio to Houston as it new morning team and is planning a big concert with Houston native Hilary Duff as one of the headliners.
The Dave, Mahoney & DK Morning Show launches September 14 on the hot adult contemporary station in the 6 am to 10 am weekday slot. The trio has headlined the morning show at CBS radio station KXTE-FM in Las Vegas, the nation's 32nd largest radio market, for six years. (Houston in the nation's sixth largest market.) They were voted "Best Radio Personalities" for two years running in the annual "Best Of" poll in the Las Vegas Review Journal.
The show will also air online at www.mix965houston.com and via the Radio.com app for mobile devices.
Midday host Lauren Kelly will anchor the Mix morning show until September 14 when she will return to the station's mid-day slot.
The new morning team replaces "The Atom Smasher Show," which was canceled in July due to poor ratings. Smasher, who previously was a popular DJ at KRBE-FM (104.1) from 1998 to 2006, launched the show about a year ago.
“The Dave, Mahoney and DK Show is best described as a progressive, fast-paced program that connects with a young adult audience in an authentic, fun and relatable way,” Charese Fruge, CBS Radio Houston vice president of programming/operations manager, said in a statement. “Dave, Mahoney and DK are real, self-deprecating and just plain funny. They are just everyday people talking about everyday things that are top of mind for all of us.”
The silver anniversary celebration includes a September 20 concert at House of Blues featuring Rachel Platten, Matt Nathanson and Duff, whose comeback CD, Breathe In. Breathe Out, was released last month. Ticket go on sale August 10, with a presale at 10 am on August 7, according to the station's website.
