Is Andy Cohen making a scouting trip to the Bayou City for a Real Housewives of Houston?
We kid — sort of. Cohen already has fans on his Twitter account, talking up his impending trip to Houston, where he'll be celebrity grand marshal of the Pride Parade Saturday night.
But who says Cohen can't do two things at once — hang with honorary community grand marshal Annise Parker and get to know potential future wrap-up show victims ... er, housewives. If you've watched much Bravo at all, you know that Cohen is the witty, ever-grinning-ear-to-ear host of Watch What Happens: Live, Bravo's version of a talk show about Bravo reality shows and the Real Housewives wrap-up specials that are often more popular and buzzed about than the shows themselves.
If you're a frequent watcher, you might also know that Cohen gets guests on these shows that no one expects him to get — Sarah Jessica Parker and Kelly Ripa, for example — because they consider him a friend.
But most don't realize that Cohen's main job is being senior vice president of original programming and development at Bravo, or that he oversees the development and production of more than two dozen shows, including all the Real Housewives series. If you want to get a Real Housewives series made, you need the blessing of Andy Cohen.
So yes, Cohen is coming to Houston to help celebrate the gay and lesbian community, along with everyday Houstonian grand marshals like Carol Wyatt and Gary Wood in the 32nd year of a festival that typically draws more than 150,000 people. But while he's here ....
