Go Gaga Tonight
Hot tranny mess: Lady Gaga costume contest hits Houston's cougar hotspot
Thank Gaga it's Friday.
Tonight, cougar-crazy Uptown Park lounge Belvedere hosts the Lady Gaga Monster Ball and Costume Contest. Guests are invited to dress up and put their best Gaga forward for a chance to win four tickets to the sold-out Monster Ball concert on July 25.
The show starts at 10 p.m. Judging begins an hour later, drawing upon the wisdom of cosmetics owner Edward Sanchez, fashion stylist Todd Ramos and style maven Evelyn Gorman. Gorman is a local celebrity for her former boutique, mix: (modern clothes), and currently consults River Oaks' 310 Rosemont via proxy from her New York headquarters.
She's touching down in Houston specifically for the Lady Gaga spectacular. That's the power of Gaga — and a contest that could test even the most creative souls.
"Being Lady Gaga isn't easy," Ramos told CultureMap. "It isn't just drag. It's drag and then some."
It's a night of decadence with a conscience, too. A portion of the evening's proceeds will go to The Center for AIDS.
