Common, Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry headine Super Bowl parties in H-Town
With Super Bowl LI less than two weeks away, the party spirit is ramping up as as organizers of several top events in Houston are announcing their headline entertainment.
Oscar-winner Common will perform at the The Giving Back Fund's 8th annual Big Game Big Give Charity party on February 4 at the estate of Lisa and Michael Holthouse. The rapper, actor and film producer won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, "Glory," from the 2014 Selma. He won a Grammy in 2003 for Best R&B song, "Love of My Life," with Erykah Badu, and in 2007 was awarded his second Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, for "Southside," featuring Kanye West.
Other celebrities include Josh Brolin, David Schwimmer, Fox's NFL Sunday co-host Rob Riggle and a celeberity poker tournament after-party hosted by Olympic great Michael Phelps and Jamie Gold, winner of the largest event in poker history. Poker tournament tickets can be purchased here.
Grammy Award-winning trio The Band Perry, favorites at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, will headline the Taste of the NFL Party With a Purpose February 4 on the University of Houston campus. Siblings Kimberly Perry, Reid Perry, and Neil Perry are known for such hits as "If I Die Young," "Better Dig Two," "Don't Let Me Be Lonely," and "Chainsaw."
Other celebrities who will dropping by the 26th annual pre-Super Bowl strolling food and wine event that pairs top chefs from each of the 32 NFL cities who cook up culinary delights with current Hall of Fame and alumni players, include Fox sports broadcaster Daryl Johnston, Miss America 2017 Savvy Shields, and celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern. On game day February 5, seven-time Grammy award winning group Lady Antebellum, another Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo favorite, will headline an exclusive Super Bowl pre-party at the Champions Club in the NRG Center within the NRG Stadium security perimeter. It is hosted by On Location Experiences (OLE), the NFL's official hospitality partner.
The Nashville-based group, who are known to be Atlanta Falcons fans, have earned nine No. 1 hits and countless other awards including Billboard Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards and Teen Choice Awards, while also taking home ACM and CMA "Vocal Group of the Year” trophies three years in a row. They recently released a funky new single, “You Look Good,” from their sixth studio album Heart Break, to be released June 9, with a world tour to follow.
The party, which will also feature performances by the jam rock group O.A.R. and country singer Tyler Farr, high-end cuisine from STK, appearances by NFL alumni and coaches, and the Houston Texans cheerleaders, is part of OLE's Super Bowl LI Premium Package, which includes tickets to the big game and other exclusive experiences.
