Leaking for love
Eastern sirens, stubble, and international intrigue: Falling in love with JulianAssange's OkCupid profile
"WARNING: Want a regular, down to earth guy? Keep moving. I am not the droid you're looking for. Save us both while you still can."
Is there any more perfect way for an online dating profile of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to begin? According to the site OkCupid, back in 2006, before he was the world's most notorious leaker, Assange was just a "passionate, and often pig headed activist intellectual" looking for love.
As found by the users of Reddit over the weekend, the Assange's account is under the pseudonym HarryHarrison and hasn't been active since December 2006, when WikiLeaks launched, leading us to believe that though this profile is almost too good to be true, it seems to be legit. (One can assume Assange has been rather busy since then.)
Aside from the calculated oh-so-casual self-portraits and requisite picture of Assange in a beanie with stubble, he describes himself as "directing a consuming, dangerous human rights project," "changing the world through passion, inspiration and trickery," and "often carrying mystery brown paper packages tied up with strings; these are a few of my first things."
That mix of danger, mystery and Julie Andrews lyrics is sure to be intoxicating to any belle with a penchant for bad boys of the nerdy/intellectual sort.
But Assange can't be tempted by any average woman — he's looking for a "siren for love affair, children and occasional criminal conspiracy," describing the ideal match as spirited, perceptive, playful, intelligent, spunky and nonconformist. And he's not into your lazy Western mindless consumerism:
I like women from countries that have sustained political turmoil. Western culture seems to forge women that are valueless and inane. OK. Not only women!
Not sure if you're a match? You can compare yourself to Assange's 42 personality tests taken through the site, showing that he is 87 percent slut, 86 percent thought criminal, 75 percent atheist, a strong democrat, high on the Asperger's scale, fond of acing intelligence and knowledge tests and 77 percent the perfect man.
Assange's Meyers-Briggs personality type is ENFP, the champion, part of the idealists group — "Nothing occurs that does not have some deep and ethical significance in your eyes. You see life as an exciting drama."
Of course, life for Assange right now is probably dramatic enough, with death threats from politicians, rape charges in Sweden, competition from OpenLeaks and his site's servers in turmoil.
But still: Julian, when you get it all worked out, call me!
