Jim "Mattress Mack" Mcingvale invites Houstonians to a Thanksgiving meal at his store
Jim "Mattress Mack" Mcingvale stepped forward to help the Houston community during the destruction of Hurricane Harvey, opening his Gallery Furniture stores as a shelter for Houstonians who lost their homes in the catastrophic floods.
Monday, McIngvale appeared on Good Morning America, with host and Houston native Michael Strahan, to announce one more way he's assisting residents through the tragedy.
McIngvale will open his North Freeway store (6006 North Fwy.) on Thanksgiving Day to share a holiday meal with those in-need. The "Gather and Give Thanks" lunch is scheduled from 10 am to 4 pm on Thursday, November 23.
Volunteers are needed to help serve. Click the video below for more details, and head to our news partners at ABC13.com for the full story.
Mcingvale also got a shout out from Michael Strahan, who is in Houston for a segment on Good Morning America about local nonprofit, Rebuilding Together Houston, to assist those displaced by the hurricane. The volunteer organization has a goal of rebuilding 1,000 Harvey-damaged homes.
