Charity teams up with Houston Texans for signature auction that has fans seeing pink
Let the bidding begin!
Local non-profit The Rose has teamed up with the Houston Texans to auction off a special set of pink shoulder pads signed by 38 players, including fan and ladies’ favorite, J.J. Watt.
The social awareness and virtual fundraising campaign kicked off Tuesday at The Rose’s Galleria location where attendees got a first look at the pink pads, up for bid at www.therose.org now through September 4.
The Rose hopes to raise $50,000, enough to provide 333 uninsured women with screening mammograms, in support of its mission of supporting beast cancer prevention.
Event guests were tickled pink by an appearance by the Houston Texans Cheerleaders. Also showing their support were Erica Graham, wife of Texans' tight end Garrett Graham, The Rose CEO and co-founder Dorothy Gibbons, and Kevin Bull and Ryan Huntsman of Douglas Pads & Sports, the donor of the unique pink-hued sports equipment.
“We appreciate what The Rose is doing for Houston women, and any way that we can help, we will,” said company COO Huntsman.
