Weak water pressure hurts Houston firefighters at massive house fire: Hydrant damaged in possible arson
Roughly 30 firefighters descended on a Missouri City subdivision Tuesday morning as a fast-moving blaze ripped through a one-story house in a matter of minutes.
KHOU Ch. 11 captured the scene from an aerial camera as the Houston Fire Department pulled one of its members from the home after he was reportedly hit with a piece of falling debris.
The firefighter was taken away on a stretcher and appears to have suffered only minor injuries.
Just after 6 a.m., rescue workers arrived at the 8600 block of Quail Burg to find a damaged hydrant.
HFD district chief Johnny Smith explains KPRC Local 2 News that firefighters scrambled to relocate a water supply in an area already known for its weak water pressure.
Homeowner Angela Patterson — who lived at the home in the Quail Valley neighborhood for 15 years — tells reporters she was at work when the fire started.
Since the home was empty at the time of the incident, HFD investigators are searching the site for signs of potential arson.
