A Crazy Robbery
Hazmat suit team pulls off a bold Woodlands jewelry store robbery: They got it at Jared (quickly)
Step aside, Rhinestone Cowboy bandit . . . The Woodlands has itself some new oddly-dressed jewelry store robbers.
At 7:30 p.m. Monday night, a team of bandits donning white hazmat suits stormed into a Jared by The Woodlands Mall, ordering staff and customers to the ground as they smashed a series of glass display cases.
The five robbers, one of whom had a gun, managed to get away with a large, but undetermined amount of jewelry. No injuries were reported.
Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office tell KHOU Ch. 11 that the robbery was well-orchestrated.
The suspects sprung from a white four-door sedan parked in front of store and fled through the backdoor to a nearby Exxon gas station, where they parked a GMC Yukon with paper plates to escape the scene. The group was in the store for less than a minute.
A woman at the gas station told the Montgomery County Police Reporter that the hazmat robbers were "carrying knapsacks over their shoulders like Santa."
