Pix of the Day
It seemed like old times in College Station Thursday as former President George H.W. Bush and former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney met to presumably talk world politics and other things, too. The two men are longtime pals since they led their respective countries in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
They were joined by former first lady Barbara Bush and billionaire Florida sugar baron Jose “Pepe” Fanjul for lunch.
"Since President Bush’s extended stay in the hospital, this is the second time in a week that they have visited the Library Center," said Frederick D. McClure.
The Bushes were in College Station for a Thursday night event hosted by the George Bush Presidential Library Foundation featuring Time magazine Washington bureau chief Michael Duffy, co-author of The Presidents’ Club andThe Preacher and the Presidents: Billy Graham in the White House.
"Since President Bush’s extended stay in the hospital, this is the second time in a week that they have visited the Library Center," Frederick D. McClure, CEO of the George Bush Foundation, said in a statement. “It is great as always to have them here and looking so good.”
Mulroney served as Canada’s 18th prime minister from 1984 to 1993. Bush served as U.S. vice president from 1981-1989 and as president from 1989-1993.
The Bush team also announced that All the Best, George Bush: My Life in Letters and Other Writings, was republished by Scribner earlier this week with an all new chapter. It is on sale at the George Bush Museum store.
