Weasley wishes come true
Harry Potter "stars" to headline Houston's Comicpalooza, joining a Green Lanternhunk
It's almost time to dust off that World of Minecraft T-shirt and wear it with pride. And pretty soon, you'll be able to spoil your sci-fi sweet tooth rotten, too.
As we head toward the cusps of spring, the most illustrious engagement of the season looms bright on the horizon.
Houston, Comicpalooza is coming back to town.
Even though you'll have to wait until May 27 (and May 28 and 29, too), our hometown's heroic comic book convention has already booked some of the biggest names in nerdom to headline the event.
And then some.
Because if you've spent any of the last seven years of your life enraptured by the trials and tribulations of the wizards and witches at Hogwarts, you might be pretty stoked that the Phelps twins — Harry Potter's fiery Fred and George Weasley, to you devotees out there — will be ushering in the epic convention.
But it doesn't stop there. While Sci-Fi & Fantasy Week — this Monday through Friday! — commenced with the Weasley disclosure, the entire week should be chock full of steampunk surprises and entertainment events to whet your weirdo whistle for Comicpalooza's impending takeover of our town.
So never fear — there's plenty of multi-format pop culture love for everyone, from fans of Star Trek's Marina Sirtis, who played the empathic Deanna Troi, to tasty Marine-cum-comic-book-cinema-celeb Nick Jones of Green Lantern.
We certainly hope George R. Brown has a few dementors on standby for some Azkaban-style guard duties, come Comicpalooza time. We have a feeling Houstonians aren't going to be able to contain their anime appetites.
