Only two U.S. schools make list of top 100 international universities: One is in Houston
A Houston university has been deemed one of the top 100 international institutions in the Times Higher Education World University rankings.
Rice University made its debut on the London-based publication's list, which ranks institutions based on their outstanding international recognition and research influence.
Rice is one of only two schools in the United States to make it into the top 100, coming in at No. 98.
Rice is one of only two schools in the United States to make it into the top 100, coming in at No. 98. Massachusetts Institute of Technology ranked at No. 39. Rice did not appear in the 2014 rankings while MIT rose from a No. 46 spot in 2014.
Times Higher Education compiles yearly rankings in several categories such as a world reputation ranking and other field-specific categories. The proportion of international students, staff and cited scholarly research are among other criteria used to compile the list of the most international universities in the world.
Topping the list is École Polytechnique Féderale de Lausanne in Switzerland.
