Send Me An Angel
Victoria's Secret supermodel plans to unveil new sports bra in Houston
Victoria's Secret rarely does things halfway. Case in point: Its annual over-the top fashion show features curvaceous supermodels in jeweled bras and angel wings.
So when the company looked for ways to launch its new sports bra, it decided to send its top models to three top cities — Houston, New York and Los Angeles — to showcase the new product.
South African supermodel Candice Swanepoel will appear at three Victoria's Secret stores in the Houston area on Wednesday (Oct. 23). She will meet fans and pose for photos at The Galleria store from noon - 1 p.m., at Baybrook Mall from 4 -5 p.m. , and at the Woodlands Mall location from 7 - 8 p.m. Swanepoel will also take over the Victoria’s Secret Sport Twitter account @vssportofficial at 8 p.m. to answer questions (include hashtag #AskAnAngel).
The sports bra, which debuted in Victoria's Secret stores today, is part of the VS Sports Collection aimed at being worn in the gym instead of the boudoir. The collection appears to be targeted towards sports-oriented shoppers who currently favor Lululemon and Athleta.
Swanepoel has also been tapped to wear the 2013 Fantasy Bra at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, set to air on Dec. 10. The $10 million bra is hand-set in 18-carat gold with a 52-carat ruby in the center and laden with 4,200 gems, including rubies, diamonds and yellow sapphires.
The model, who turned 25 on Sunday, told People magazine that designers had to make a mold of her body to craft the bra. "It’s kind of a big ordeal. The bra comes with two bodyguards and we have to handle it with a lot of care," she said.
