PIX OF THE DAY
Cartoon characters come to life (with young professionals power) to make sick kids smile
Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you?
A duo from the animated posse took a respite from sleuthing around and stopped at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital Friday morning to bring a smile to little ones staying at the medical institution for treatment.
Shaggy and his sidekick read passages from How Do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon?, a children's book written by Jane Yolen that teaches the lesson that "doctors know best." The kiddos couldn't help but beam from ear to ear as the pair took time to chat with every child in the audience, which included Jade Hart, 16, Marcus Martinez, 7, and Nicholas Pohla, 10.
The visit was sponsored by Heroes in Health, Memorial Hermann's young professionals group, in collaboration with Society for the Performing Arts, which is scheduled to present Scooby-Doo Live! Music Mysteries at Jones Hall on Saturday at 2 and 6 p.m. Tickets start at $18 and can be purchased online or by calling 713-227-4772.
We think this visit deserves a Scooby snack.
