Rock Goddess
First look: Pucci creates glittery costumes for Beyoncé's "Mrs. Carter Show" World Tour
In advance of Beyoncé's "Mrs. Carter Show" World Tour, which kicked off in Belgrade, Serbia, on Monday, Emilio Pucci released drawings of the costumes that creative director Peter Dundas created for the superstar.
Dundas, who recently presented his fall-winter 2013-14 collection in Houston at the Best Dressed luncheon for Neiman Marcus, said he interpreted the "rock goddess" theme through fabrics and proportions, which show off the singer's legs and allow her to easily move throughout the concert.
The five costumes shown here include embellished minis, hot pants and skimpy bodysuits — not nearly as cutting-edge as Rihanna or Lady Gaga in concert, but certainly eye-catching.
Pucci appears to be a favorite of the singer. Beyoncé wore a Pucci black velvet and chiffon beaded cutout long-sleeved gown to the noon inauguration of President Obama in January, where she famously lip-synched the National Anthem, and looked out-of-place at the daytime event in an evening gown.
And at the Costume Institute Gala in 2011, the singer wore a form-fitting Pucci gown with embroidery and jet paillettes that was so tight, she could barely walk up the steps of the red carpet.
The "Mrs. Carter Show" makes a Houston stop at the Toyota Center on July 15.
