Haute performance: Rihanna dresses up for concert tour in bondage-themed Givenchy
Rihanna is such a fashion fan that it's no surprise that she tapped Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci to create a haute couture wardrobe for her Diamonds World Tour that arrives in Houston next month.
The cutting-edge designer created six looks for the concert, drawing from a print featured in his fall 2013 menswear collection and a penchant for bondage.
The singer has long been a big fan of Tisci and regularly wears Givenchy on the red carpet.
For the opening act, Tisci designed a masculine oversized black printed and hand embroidered parka that mixes streetwear and haute couture. Under the parka, the singer wears a black and white nappa leather bra with gold stars and buckles. The bondage look is softened a bit by a pair of silk satin mini-shorts in a matching print.
A shark tooth gold metal necklace with an engraved military plaque in the back with the word "RiRi," sunglasses with gold metal hardware elements and white crystal stud earrings complete the look.
For Rihanna's concert entrance, Tisci also created a black floor-length silk crepe cape with a ruffled hem and an embroidered collar teamed with sexy leather thigh-high boots with lacing detailing.
"I enjoyed making these looks," Tisci said in a statement. "Rihanna represents what young and amazing means today. She is punk and talented. She offers intelligence, energy and pure beauty. Rihanna has what every girl aspires to have. She is the face of her generation."
The singer has long been a big fan of Tisci and regularly wears Givenchy on the red carpet.
The singer recently cancelled several performances due to bout of laryngitis. She has resumed the tour in Canada and plans a Houston performance at the Toyota Center on April 15.
