In its first six months, Torchy's Tacos has taken Houston by storm.
The Shepherd location on the western boundary of Montrose threw the company's biggest opening party ever, drawing lines around the block, and despite some tepid reviews, a consistenty packed parking lot is evidence of the Austin taco chain's continuing popularity. One night the unprecedented volume of online orders virtually shut down the restaurant.
So it comes as no surprise that Torchy's is expanding its H-Town presence. Torchy's is the first executed lease in a new property in the former Harold's in the Heights space on the corner of 19th Street at Ashland.
According to renderings by Baker Katz, the existing two-story brick and stucco structure is being converted into an L-shaped retail center. The Torchy's space is in the corner set closest to the intersection, with 3,340 square feet and a small patio area.
No word yet on when Torchy's in the Heights is opening. Are you feeling the taco fever?
