Where the pretty people eat

Imagine Lord Byron sharing an acid trip with Elvis and Bridget Bardot and you’ll get the Gothic/Vegas/St. Tropez feeling of the sensual décor of the Hotel ZaZa, which houses Monarch, a restaurant that serves up American cuisine with a decidedly eclectic twist. Some of the unique dishes include the Mexican chop salad with chipotle-glazed shrimp, mango and poblano pecan vinaigrette, the braised kobe beef short rib and the mushroom lasagna. Best seats in the house for pre-dining drinks are on the veranda, which overlooks the majestic oak tree-lined boulevard leading up to Hermann Park.

If you love spicy cocktails, try Monarch's Bloody Mary bar during Sunday brunch.
